Scope of application:
Ferritic stainless steel takes chromium as the main alloy element, and its content is 12% - 30% CR. This kind of steel has single-phase structure, no phase transformation and strong magnetism. Its typical representative steel is 430. 409, a cheap stainless steel developed by the United States in the 1960s with the goal of reducing the cost of stainless steel, is widely used in silencers and sewer pipes of cars and motorcycles. It also belongs to ferrite; Rust steel.
This kind of steel has no hardenability. Like austenitic steel, it cannot be hardened by heat treatment, and the grain growth caused by heating is faster and larger than that of austenitic steel. Therefore, in order to avoid grain growth and austenite transformation, the heating temperature should not be too high during heat treatment - generally, the maximum heating temperature of annealing should not exceed 850 ℃. Table 4 is the reference annealing temperature of ferritic stainless steel.
